Our Story Begins in a Roadside Peach Shed...

We opened our doors and served platefuls of Southern favorites on our first table back in 1988. In a converted roadside peach shed, we introduced the South to our World Famous Calabash Chicken®. Though the technique originated in Calabash, North Carolina, Fatz is now the home of Calabash style cooking. Buttermilk brined for 24 hours, hand breaded in our special blend of spices and fried to a golden brown, it’s true what they say; we are the Kings of Calabash.
 
We’ve passed down time honored recipes, from generation to generation. But our goal remains the same: to serve folks Southern favorites, with a smile, at restaurants run by their friends and neighbors.
 
Fatz is a place where tradition is born, relationships are made strong and new memories are created. We’re your go-to when it’s time to celebrate the best things in life. Whether hosting a gathering of friends or sitting down with the family for supper, we are thankful you chose our Southern Kitchen. Cheers, y'all!

Brummy’s such a fan of Fatz, he’s joined us for lunch and dinner every single day for the past seven years. Now that’s what we call a loyal guest! We love taking care of Brummy, and we were tickled pink when he won our “How Do You Calabash?” contest last year.

In fact, his passion for offering up good food, great service and genuine Southern hospitality is what helped him win our 2015 Operator of the Year award. When he’s not taking care of guests, you may find Carlos digging into his favorite thing on the menu: the Garlic Shrimp Pasta.

There are many things Dana loves about Fatz, but working with guests is her all-time favorite. Guests always put a smile on her face, and she loves watching the new guests turn into regulars. When she’s not taking care of guests, you may find her treating herself to her favorite Fatz dessert: the Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie. YUM!
